A lot of people are looking for work from home jobs that don’t come with a strict, set schedule.
This is probably the second most common request I get next to people looking for non-phone work.
In the last four years, I’ve actually written about a lot of jobs like this, but I’ve never made a list of companies although I do have a list of flexible work at home industries. So this post is a big list of those jobs I’ve reviewed that allow you to work more or less when it’s convenient for you. Note I have left off the freelance writing, editing, and transcription companies because these almost always allow you the freedom to set your own schedule. The companies listed below are divided up into
phone and non-phone jobs:
Flexible Phone Jobs
Vocalabs – Administering customer satisfaction surveys from home. You can work when it’s convenient for you provided you are calling during daytime/evening hours.
USA Contact Point – Telemarketing work. They have shifts available 24/7 and you can schedule yourself to work when you want. You may want to read the comments on this company before applying because many people have had negative experiences here.
Call Center QA – Telephone mystery shopping. Work anytime as long as you’re calling during business hours. Note that work is not always available with this company. Good for extra money only.
Contract World – Work from home customer service for major companies like Pizza Hut and KFC. With this company you generally have the freedom to schedule your own hours provided you are still meeting the needs of their clients. Note there are fees when you apply to this company for things like certification and training, and for that reason a lot of people don’t go through with the process of applying.
Voter Research – Work from home conducting political surveys. You can pick the shifts you want to work with no minimum or maximum amount of hours you have to stick to. I do not think this company has work available all year long. Like some of the others, they have projects that come and go.
Metaverse – They hire home-based customer support reps. You can schedule your own hours here the last I was aware.
ISUS – ESL (English Second Language) teaching from home. The work is done via Voip connection. You can set your own schedule as long as you work Monday – Friday and can commit to at least 24 hours per week. Shifts are usually done in 2-4 hour blocks.
ARC Consulting – Telephone mystery shopping. Like most other phone mystery shopping companies, you can do the calls anytime as long as you’re calling during normal business hours. This should also be considered just extra money since you can’t depend on the work to be steady.
Ver-a-Fast – Outbound calling, mainly to newspaper customers. Mostly working nights and weekends, at least 15 hours a week. You can usually log on and off as needed provided you meet your hourly quota every week. I should mention this company gets lots of negative reviews from former workers although they are a legit company.
Parameds – Outbound calling for medical records retrieval. The work is done Monday through Friday and you can work anytime during business hours. However, lots of workers say they stay pretty busy the entire time because sometimes they have lots of calls to make.
VoiceLog – They hire third party call verification agents to work from home. You can set your own schedule as long as you are working in 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 hour blocks.
Expert Planet – Work from home taking inbound sales calls. You can grab hours when they are available and schedule yourself to work in as little as one hour increments of time.
Arise – Work from home customer support. This is more of a home business opportunity since you have to become incorporated to begin servicing their clients. The schedule here is known for being extremely flexible, you can work things around your schedule to a point although ultimately it’s going to depend on the needs of the client(s) you are servicing.
Zirtual – Work from home virtual assisting. Unlike Fancy Hands which is task-based virtual assisting, Zirtual assigns specific clients to you. This is flexible work although you are required to put the needs of your clients first.
NextWave Advocacy – Conducting outbound political calls. You have to commit to 20 hours a week but you can work the hours at anytime during the day or evening. This is project-based work, so the work will come and go.
OnPoint Advocacy – Similar to the work you do for NextWave (above). You are free to make your calls anytime between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. You have to commit to at least 25 hours per week. This is also project-based work and the company may not always have projects available for you to work on.
Pleio-Goodstart – Work from home calling people for medication reminders. You can make the calls on your own schedule provided they are done between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the patient’s time zone Monday through Friday or 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays.
Pierce-Eislen – This is a phone job from home where background noise doesn’t matter. You are calling apartment complexes pretending to be a renter in order to gather information. You can do your calling on your own schedule provided it’s between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Perception Strategies – Phone mystery shopping. Like the other phone mystery shopping opps I have listed, you can do the work anytime provided the business you are calling is open.
Live Ops – Work from home customer service. It is possible to set your own schedule here in blocks of time as small as 30 minutes.
iTalki – Work from home teaching any language via Skype or Voip. This one is open worldwide and allows you freedom to set your own schedule.
Time Etc. – Work from home as a virtual assistant for Time Etc. This is flexible work provided you can work Monday-Friday, at least five hours a week.
MyTime – Work from home booking appointments for MyTime’s customers. You have to work in 4-5 hour shifts, but you can choose which shifts you work with a minimum of only 8 hours per week.

Elevate K12 – Work from home tutoring. You can work any hours you want as long as it’s between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Fancy Hands – Work from home task-based virtual assisting. Log on anytime and if there are tasks you can do, you can claim them. There are almost always lots of tasks available. Note this is sort of phone and sort of non-phone since some of the tasks will involve the phone and some won’t. But it’s up to you which ones you claim.
Needle – Chat online with customers of various name brands to help them find the right products to buy. You can schedule yourself to work during certain shifts or just log in and work anytime. While this started off as a way to make a decent income, people are saying now that it’s mainly just extra money.
Humanatic – Work from home listening to recorded phone conversations and label them according to specific criteria. You can work as much or little as you want. Note this is extra money, if that. Most people aren’t able to make much money at all doing this.
Pearson – Work at home scoring tests. You can work anytime you want provided you commit to at least 20 hours a week.
iSoftStone – This is work from home search evaluation although they also occasionally have other types of projects, too. You can log in and work whenever you want as long as you commit to at least 10 hours per week.
Leapforce – Another work from home search engine evaluation opportunity. This is another where you can log in and work anytime. There are no shifts you have to schedule yourself for.
Virtual Bee – This is work from home data entry, very much just extra money and not steady work at all. You can log in at any time and do the work if it’s there to do. Lots of times it’s not.
Demand Media – Demand is best known for hiring freelance writers, but they sometimes have titling positions available, too, that are non-phone. This may be editing the names of titles, removing duplicates, or doing title quality assurance. They have scaled back on the hiring for these positions, but they are occasionally open. You can log in and work anytime if there is work to do.
Brainfuse – Work from home tutoring. It may be possible to work on your own schedule if there are any tutoring sessions you can grab.
Great American Opportunities – Work from home seasonal data entry. You can log on and work anytime if there are orders available for you to key. The orders, if available, usually show up in daytime hours. Note this is not an easy job to get. The company has a waiting list that extends a few years.

Clickworker – Short task work. Log in and work whenever you want if the work is there to do.
Amazon mTurk – Another short task site, powered by Amazon. Log in and work anytime. There is always work to do, but you wont’ always be able to find work that is worth the pay.
